Comparison of Volumetric Values of Transabdominal and Transrectal Ecosonography with Regard to Postoperative Prostatic Weight in Hyperplasia

چکیده
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is one of the most frequent pathologies of the males. Characterized by a chronic and progressive growth of the prostate gland, causing a blockage of the outflow of urine, clinically manifesting itself in socalled lower urinary tract symptoms. In more advanced stages the obstruction of the flow can become chronic, appearing complications such as acute retention of urine, infection or kidney failure. In addition, patients may require surgery due to the disease itself or by any of the complications. [1].

Objective- To compare transabdominal (TA) and transrectal (TR) ultrasonography of the prostate gland. Design- Experimental study. Animals- 10 intact male dogs that required euthanasia for reasons other than prostatic disease. Procedures- Prostatic length (L), width (W) and height (H) were measured in T A (L1, W1 and H1) and TR (L2 and H2...
متن کاملApplication of Bland-Altman Method in Comparing Transrectal and Transabdominal Ultrasonography for Estimating Prostate Volume
Background: Estimating prostate volume using less invasive transabdominal ultrasonography (TAUS) instead of transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) is of interest in terms of identifying their agreement level. Previous reports on this subject, applied general correlation coefficient as the level of agreement. This study uses Bland-Altman method to quantify TAUS and TRUS agreement on estimating prost...
متن کاملCorrelation of transrectal and transabodominal ultrasound measurement of transition zone volume with post-operative enucleated adenoma volume in benign prostatic hypertrophy
INTRODUCTION Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a common disease of ageing men worldwide. Though transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) is the standard in most parts of the world in evaluation of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), it is rarely done in some less developed countries because of non availability of appropriate probes and or specialists. Transabdominal ultrasonography (TAUS) remains the m...

Background and Aims: Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide in men. Matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2) has a role in the invasion and destruction of the basement membrane and the extra-cellular matrix and facilitating the process of tumor cell invasion. The present study was conducted to compare the expression of MMP2 gene in prostate cancer (PCa) and benign prostatic ...
